 Usually associated with freshness, the scent of a lemon is often used in the marketing of household products such as lemon-scented laundry detergents, air fresheners, soap products, wood cleaners, etc. In some restaurants, where you would need to use your bare hands to eat, as in seafood restaurants, slices of fresh lemons are given to customers to wash off their hands of the greasy, heavy smell of food.

Shot with Canon EOS 300D with a small aperture for DOF. I used two 250W photoflood lights and my Speedlite 550EX for fill.

Shot up close to fill the frame with the portion of the bowl in one corner to help with the DOF. Adjusted levels, cropped and applied USM.

I really like your idea here. The only thing I can suggest is maybe try this using a black background? I think the yellow background blends too much with your subjects.

why put the lemons that are out of the frame in a bowl? I think just on the paper near the plate would be a much more elegant composition. :) I like the plate you have chosen too, but I think something is off about the colours..the yellows are looking a bit greeny and not as vibrant as they could be.

From the number of images that I have looked at for this challenge specifically I am coming to the conclusion that physical limitation of the equipment being used accounts for the DOF problems and this image is no exception. If there is a limit in the camera, surely the author ought to be aware and work to those limitations.

The colors and composition are very pleasing. Yes. My saliva glands are now open! Good job. The green background adds a nice touch.

The composition is nice, but the areas of blur are odd. I think the whole thing should be in focus. Seems like your aperature was a bit too open. Nice idea

Nice shot. I like the cleaness of the bright background and silver. Only real improvement might be to go even further with that and work on bringing out even more of that lemony-fresh and clean feel through lighting and taking out some of the shadows and adding some sparkle for added punch. Always easier said than done though, of course. Good shot.
