Child's foot?
09/01/2002 06:15:00 AM
This is an absolutely beautiful photo, but I'm not sure if it meets the "no children" part of the challenge. I still love it. The texturing of that sand on the toes is very well done! Sepia works very well here. I'm going to give it 10 anyway!! - lisae

Good idea. I like the monochrome.

Very emotive!
08/31/2002 08:02:00 PM
Uh, oh, I see a child (his/her foot). Otherwise, nice concept.

Isn't it meant to be FEET? Great photo in any case. The detail is superb and the composition is excellent.8-Martin

I like the contrast between a grown foot and a young foot, but wasn't the challenge w/o children? I'm probably being picky. Parts of me thinks this is a sepia shot and parts think it's really color, I guess I can't tell. This is an interesting shot and very well done, focus is great. Ouch on the cropped toes. 6 Swash

Uh - oh - part of a child here. Otherwise it's a great photo. Why doesnt jr's foot have sand on it too? Would have linked the two together. Love the sepia tone. Nice focus and interesting light. 8 - floyd

It's a nice shot but the challenge clearly stated "without children". Sorry

This image works very well in sepia. Great childhood photo. 7 BAMartin

This shot and subject are wonderful. I don't quite see how it fits the challenge, but I could easily see this as a photo in a gallery of an accomplished professional. I'd advise you have it enlarged and hang it prominently in your home.

I really like this photo, especially the sepia, however, I do not consider it to be within the spirit of the challenge -(without having a child in your picture). lhall

This picture is nice and I like the colos, but you're using kid's feet and that's breaking the rules of this challenge.
08/27/2002 11:48:00 PM
Very nice shot, but isn't that a child in it?
08/27/2002 07:12:00 PM
This is a lovely shot. Hope you don't get marked down for including a child's foot *gasp* :o) Nice lighting and composition. Only complaint is that fuzzy toe since the rest of the shot is in such nice, crisp focus.
08/27/2002 06:12:00 PM
Wonderful composition -- I love the lighting, and the variety of textures here.
08/27/2002 04:53:00 PM
Great picture, but I think I see a child.............. 8

For all that I love the detail of the sand on the big foot, I do have this fear of naked feet (I know I know) and I am finding it REALLY hard to look at those toe nails. I am persevering for short bursts at a time and writing this in Word to copy paste it into the comment box. :)
The child's foot seems a bit of an afterthought in terms of positioning and might be better without the towel/ trouser over the leg. I'd also prefer the background to be consistent on either side...

I am not clear on the rules of this challenge, it says no children in the photo, however you have a childs foot in the photo. I am not sure if that inclueds parts of children or not. I would THINK it also means no children body parts as well, but since it's not really clear on that, who am I to judge? So, setting that aside, I like this idea behind this photo. I like the color and the angle. Good luck in the challenge.

Great composition, texture, balance, contrast. Excellent. Nitpick : it would be even more perfect if the toes in the foreground were in focus. But, top ten anyway.
08/27/2002 07:32:00 AM
This is an excellent photograph, but I think fails to meet the spirit, if not the letter, of not including a child in the photograph.
08/27/2002 07:28:00 AM
I thought no child in the photo is allowed?
08/27/2002 06:43:00 AM
EXCELLENT photo. i thnk you werent supposed to have a child in the pic though.. since we were all thusly limited, so should you be. sorry.
08/27/2002 03:32:00 AM
Surely that small foot belongs to a child?! Nice photo though, good coloring and definition.
08/27/2002 01:39:00 AM
Well, I am not sure if a child's foot is within the rules but I guess I don't care too much! I like the sepia tone of this photo and it brings out the sun and sand well (in my view). Well done.
08/26/2002 09:54:00 PM
This is a really neat photo but I have to take points off for a child in the photo. Good job though otherwise. 5.

Although I really like this photo, it's a stretch of the challenge for me. I know you're probably fed up with hearing that, but there it is again. Sorry. I like the sepia decision. I really like the sandiness on the feet. I like the bright spot on the top of the adult foot and I like the texture in the towel. The child's foot doesn't even really bother me, although I think technically, it shouldn't be there in a tight challenge interpretation. What bothers me is that I don't see childhood in the photo. Still, I'll think on it, and may come back. 6 for now. just-married

Excuse me, but that IS a CHILD'S foot in the photo. There are not supposed to be children in the photo.
08/26/2002 05:22:00 PM
I would have to argue that the picture does indeed include a child... maybe not a whole child... but a child...
08/26/2002 02:26:00 PM
nice photo but what
08/26/2002 12:57:00 PM
Great picture, but it does make me think childhood without children.
08/26/2002 05:24:00 AM
Nice picture (good in sepia) but I feel that although it's only a foot, and a small one :-), it is still showing a child in the picture.
08/26/2002 12:30:00 AM
...but there is a child in the photo
08/25/2002 11:01:00 PM
Great photo! But I am only giving a 1 because it does not meet the challenge IMO.
08/25/2002 10:38:00 PM
It was my understanding that children shouldn't appear in the submission.? This is a nice image though and I like the sepia toning. The emphasis seems to be though on the foot of the mother. If I wanted to be a stickler about it I would say this conveys motherhood more than childhood. 6 Journey

I like this picture, the overall color theme gives a contemplative mood to the whole thing, the sand on the foot ties in with the texture of the terrycloth towel,I'd like to see it just a little bit farther off from the subject, though.
08/25/2002 08:21:00 PM
This is a VERY nice photo.. I love the color choices and the composition is also excellent... this is DEFINITELY a keeper. In the spirit of this particular challenge, I believe this photo fails. It does not contain a whole child, but just part of a child. I think this is borderline and I feel sure that you will receive other similar comments this week... - jmsetzler
