 Shot at Bike Week, hoping to find a shot of an older bike, but this brand-new Yamaha will have to do. Used higher ISO before learning more that noise and grain aren't the same.

Cropped, convert to black and white with Channel Mixer, added 8% noise (Gaussian, monochromatic), resized, saved for Web.

I like the balance of grain in this photo and the lighting is really nice too!

I don't think, for myself, that a bright shiny subject is particularly enhanced by the sense of dirtiness and rough texture that the grain brings to it. The impression one is left with is of an overlay of noise, rather than a co-operative part of the image.
