I'm assuming from the title that this is a soldier, perhaps. The image itself is a little small and so a lot of the details are lost. It is always good to use the full 640 pixels on the longest side. I'm not really sure what to make of it. I can tell it's a person, but other than that not much. I do like the shadows on the floor. I also, thankfully, do not have a personal reference for the smell in the title.

powerful imagery... I like the way the soldier stands out against the shadows... the image could possibly be a tad sharper, but perhaps that would change the effect... great photo!

I worked on a burn ward and you are right, it has it's own smell that is hard to forget. I wish you had been able to zoom into the scene so I could see more of what is going on. It's too vague as it is now. There's no context other than the man.
