Your photo is pretty good. The lighting on the face and the composition especially.
I do have an issue with that back spotlight though. For me it's too bright and takes the focus away from the face. To fix that in post, I would simplify things by first converting to black and white that way the color is no longer a visual element that demands it's own attention. I'd also lower the highlights just a tad while deepening the shadows a little. I tried this in photoshop and it seems to work as my eyes are drawn to his a lot quicker. Basically what happens is the eyes are a bit darker and thus pop more pulling the focus away from the bright spot. Anyway, just a thought. |

Really like the light on the bubect, but the spotlight on the bg is a bit too much (needs to be difused). |
