 I planned to enter this in "Furniture".
We shot it in my late mother's empty house with her mother's chair and lantern, and with a costume that she had sewn. Two days later I put the house up for sale, and when I was inside for the last time I found it pretty rough, saying a final goodbye to the house where both my parents spent their final days.
I just couldn't enter the shot then, knowing it wouldn't score well. It just held too much emotional connection for me.
But I DO want feedback on it and how to improve; I just couldn't bear a 4pointsomething.

I really like the concept and the execution of this - very well thought out and definitely one you'll want to frame and hang for the sentimental value. I think the only thing I would have changed would be to have lit the lantern if possible (which you may be able to do in post processing, but I'm not smart enough to tell you how). I love the dress, and I like the dark, aged look of the tones.

Wow... awesome idea. Definitely most original thing I've seen in a while, and would have been unique in the challenge.

That said, might have been brought down a bit by technicalities. Graining for one, then lighting could be less flat (light up the lamp maybe?). As glad2badad said, a border would also take it a long way.

I try to vote more based on feeling and emotion than technical issues, so I would have probably scored this an 8 or a 9.

I can't believe no one has commented on this photo. Thanks for sharing the story behind it, and I understand your decision to not enter it (emotional connection) - however, thinking that it would score 4 something isn't flying in my book - it would have scored much higher. :D

This is unique, not in the technique, but for the challenge it would have been unique. May have taken a minor hit for the slight noise/grain but not bad. A border would help "contain" this image IMO. I'd go with a single pixel white, then some black on the outside. Just a thought.
