i couldn't decide between b/w and colour, so i'm including both.

pp:
-high pass for eyes, foreground hand and orange slice
-screen for eyes, face, and upper torso
-screen for eyes, x2
-multiply for background, with radial gradient mask, and a little mulitply on orange, x2
-selective colour to reduce redness on hands
-black and white layer (ps3) with tint set to warm tone, 3% saturation, and another with tint set to blueish tone. second b/w layer had blue and cyan lightened, to bring up eyes, thus eye areas were masked in the first b/w layer. then set blend mode to blend if grey, split toning. still not sure how this works, but it looks ok.
-flatten image
-duplicate image
-gaussian blur filter - 15px with radial gradient mask, plus extra masking over face, hand, and path
flatten imgage
-kubota sloppy border
-resize.

I guess I will be the odd one out and say that I like the color pic better. I think it is because of you making the orange constrast against all the other colors. Both however, are gorgeous!

I like this one, too, but it's a bit dark; the feel is a bit more of dismay or sadness, something I didn't really get from the original or the color version. It's really nicely processed (again using techniques I would like to learn one day), just different!

I really like your black and white! It's a lot different than most people, including I, edit for black and white. Usually people make the highlights, like the face, almost totally white, adding to the contrast. But I really like this...The less contrast makes it seem more real, and also sort of old, like I saw it out of an old photo album.

awesome job on the edit, I much prefer the B&W, gives a lot less to focus on than the colour. Beautiful.

Man - I opened your original and had my ideas of how it could be edited up. I open your color and think - DANG that looks nice - even better than what I was imagining - cant get any better. And then I open this one. I was wrong. From thumb the color one looks better , but opened this is the one. Excellent editing. Great control of the vignetting. I love your style of editing. It is very pleasing and inviting.

Well this one doesn't suck either. I like both. Different moods created in each instance, too.

Wow, strong and beautiful photo. It is a hard choice, but I prefer the B&W.
