 I know this isn't that great, I had a great idea, or so I thought and I just couldn't pull it off. I painted the pepper with a flashlight. I cut the back half off and used the light to make it appear to glow by shining the light on the inside of the pepper. I then swirled the light around a bit to light up the background. The background is actually fake leather that I made appear red with selective color. I took out some cyan and added some magenta in the neutrals channel. The image just didn't say red enough with the tan ground and background.
