 Caught a gator napping on a dredge pipe. The pipe is 24 inch (2/3 meter) diameter, and the leaves are about 12 inches long. The gator is about 7 ft (2.2M) long. There were larger ones there, but this one had the right pose to get the reflection to work well with his legs. The plants are called "fire flags" and where they grow, swamp buggies do not go, as they indicate that there is no bottom to the muck there.

I think I will come back as an alligator in my next life, lazing about in the sun with the odd dip in the water, it's a permanent holiday for them!! Great shot, the colours are really lush and his reflection is brill!!

excellent shot waddy ... absolutely love those beautiful rich tones and the fact that i thought it was a very large gator until i realise that with the size of those leaves he must be a little'un !!.. beautiful reflections ...

Oh Waddy, this is an awesome Grand Finale photo for you! I know what you mean about having worn out comment fingers :) But it has been so fun, and I have enjoyed your neck of the woods so much!

This really is an amazing photo! I can't believe you guys see gators like this in the wild! That blows my mind almost as much as people who get to see kangaroos running around in the wild!
