 This is my first contest submission. I used a diffusing filter, +10 and +7 macro lenses, printer paper for a background and delicious shortbread cookies!

Good idea to use cookies. I think this would be better with the focus on the whole cookie at the bottom left side. The frame is a bit too much and it seems like there is more on the right side than the left.

I like this as a composition, but it doesn't evoke the aroma for me.

I like your use of sepia here. I'd have used a deeper DOF for this, though.

Your props are beat to hell. A better cookie would have improved this otherwise great photo. Terrific use of DOF.

Fantastic use of low DOF. Would love to see this in colour, as can't decide whether or not I like the choice for b/w. In purely image terms, I do but in terms of conveying smell, I am not so sure.

DOF. I think it's ok to have the background out of focus but the foreground is troubling

I like how you've gotten close up to the cookies and yet still kept some depth to the image. Personally, I like the use of DOF used here, and I also like the tone. Very professional-looking image.

I really like the picture visually, but it doesn't convey "scents and aromas" to me. perhaps because I don't know this kind of bread?
