 I have been thinking about this challenge all month. One day I was using my sons marbles for the Shallow DOF challenge. I thought, why not take a marble on a hike and get close up pictures of what you can see through the marble. I had planned on taking the marble to a local park but ran out of time. So on a Monday before the photo was due I took time out and took the marble out into the yard and shot some photos. This is the last picture I took and I instantly fell in love with it. I am very passionate about my photos. When my husband said he liked it I figured it was a go. The marble is set on a one of the branches that is laying on the lot next to our house. I put on the 40-150 mm lens along with the Canon 500D closeup lens filter and got as close as I could get to the marble. I shot in raw, converted to PSCS2,rotated 180 degrees, played around with shadow and highlights and some minor selective color. I think I ran Noise Ninja but I am not sure. It was late when I did the post processing. Resized and saved for the web. Hope you enjoy. I think it is a bit out of the box but I think that is why I like it. I wanted to play with it some more but my husband needed the computer so I had to go with what I had.

POST: Thank you all for your wonderful comments. This was a tough challenge and I was up against some very good photographer's. I am very happy with my new personal best. This photo beat my low key photo, which was my first personal best.

I must have missed this when I looked through this challenge. Fantastic work. I love the reflection in the marble and the DOF works really well.

I love these marble shots. The clear and crisp focus through the glass is beautiful to look at. Amazing how I can stare at it for so long.

Very cool! I love the way you used the marble as a sort of lens. It's a macro and fisheye in one photo!!You can see so many details!! I like the little composition in the marble with the branches in the foreground and the house and trees in the background. Nice smooth bokeh too! Great image and unique too. Hope it does well!
