A combination of a nice, simple portrait with a very funny element.
I don't expect it to do very well at all, but hey.. Figured I'd get something in with my Tamron lens while I can.
While it's unfortunate that this whole Tone-Mapping phenomenon has become a little over-done on DPC lately, and seems to be the new "Grunge", This piece wasn't done because "tone-mapping rulez! OMG!". In fact, it wasn't done with tone-mapping at all. Just simple Shadows/Highlights, a lot of love, some gaussian blur layers, and a mix of all kinds of other cheap and easy regular photoshop adjustments.
The *reason* I did this shot this way is in homage to a photographer's style that I've always enjoyed.. from long before this whole tone-mapping/HDR craze hit the scene.
Susi, this one is for you, out of the utmost respect and admiration.
*Post-Challenge*
Ok, I knew this wasn't going to do that well.. but.. OUCH.
I though more 5.4-5.6ish
5.1? *blink*
The number of 4s here really confuses me, it really really does.
Ah well.. such is the fickle nature of the voters. |

I've got to agree with the other post-commentators. I was going through my photos in this competition, ranked by my vote, and couldn't believe that this didn't score really high. I love the image - it's original, adorable, shows personality and is technically really well done. Sorry that more didn't agree ...
p.s. it was in my top ten at least :)

So what (regarding the grade), it is still one of the most memorable images entered into this challenge. Hard to forget. |

Honestly, I don't know what some people are thinking. There is no way possible that this should be down here with this silly, silly score. :( |
