 Many thanks to my beautiful Mother for posing for me and bailing me out of trouble AGAIN! of cause she really HATES this shot because of the sharpness and low key stuff but she likes the original way better.. hahaha

Editing - contrast/brightness, curves, levels, desaturate USM resize, border, USM, submit..

Im very pleased with this shot, I hope the voters enjoy it too.

Thank you everyone for nice comments and for making this shot yellow ribbon. I must be on a good run lately with my photography. I really wanted to show the quality of that Carl Zeiss lens, it has incredible sharpness. My Mum will visit today and although she does not like this shot's editing she will be very happy to know that she could help me to get the ribbon.

The best kind there is... Natural light from the window but I used a reflector to spray it onto Mums face. she was really Side-on to the window and the reflector was right in her face. I always try to use natural light whenever possible, I find strobe lights a tad harsh at times especially for somthing subtle like this challenge.. Thank you for asking.

Very nice portrait! I was amused but not surprized to read that you mother doesn't like it. I have the same problem with my dad, he hates my best portrait of him also shot in the low key (which incidentally brought me my personal best score on this site). What can you do, nobody wants to look old :).
