Post challenge: Let me explain this... as a teenager, I was told about this grave in my hometown, where it was said the word "Evil" was spelled out in snakes right on this persons tombstone. Never having seen any other written languages other than French or Spanish while growing up (before the internet age), it's sure looked like it to me. Thanks to someone on this site, I now know what it says and what language it is in. But, back to the legend... her sister is also buried right next to her, and she now has a new tombstone since her son was added to her grave. But, years ago, her tombstone had the word witch on it. So between the two, there were some pretty good local legends about the two. Back when I was a teenager someone had thrown red paint on this woman's tombstone, when I went to photograph this it had red paint on it again. I asked some of the local teens who told me someone does it every year. So, this person is still reviled for things that people don't understand. The local teenager's still believe it says evil. And the cycle continues.
I'm actually surprised this didn't show up in google. It is written about in a book titled "Weird NJ".
I apologize to anyone I might have offended.

Kelli, that certainly is an interesting story. I wouldn't have understood the connection to hate without it.

That's plain odd. I thought it was Arabic script for a moment.

This means absolutley nothing to me; I googled "Amanda Bowen" but drew a blank.
From a photographic standpoint, the snow is quite badly over-exposed.

sorry, perhaps it is just my historical illiteracy showing through, but I don't get what you are trying to say here. is this about the person? . . . about their cultural background? . . . personal?

Just so you know . . . that doesn't actually say Evil . . . it is arabic for . . . "Glory be to God"

What the heck? Who is Amanda Bowen, and why would she be reviled even in death? I don't understand this one.

If there is a hate symbol in this picture, it's lost on me.

I really don't understand the meaning in this photo. It also looks too much like a regular snapshot, too much background.

I don't get it. Google didn't enlighten me about the name so it wasn't some serialkiller or something...no I really don't get it.
