18 degrees out but they make em tough in Poughkeepsie, NY I shot all day down town while fighting a sinus cold. Thes was the best one. Cropped Converted to B&W, Sharpened adjusted levels, shadows/highlights and curve. Applied USM and we're good to go.

Positives:
Balance of image, both tonal and compositional, with the police car and biker, go together well and BW is a good choice for presentation. High contrast works given the implied tension between 'RAT' and the police. Unsure if the maltese crosses were setup for the image, but support the composition.
Technicals:
BW is generally done well. Overall, focus and composition are OK... not exceptional. Perspective from behind the biker is fine but is taken from a snapshot angle. Compositional balance would further benefit from another element, like a pedestrian eyeing the biker's intent from the curb on the left side of the frame. Images with snow are always hard because of brightness and loss of detail as is true in your case.
The challenge:
Meets the challenge well particular with the biker car interaction.
Well, I was assigned this shot for the Critique Club... so lets start with my previous comment and see if I can find anything else to add now that I'm taking another look at this shot.
I had mentioned that there was a nice range of tones, and I stand by that. It has a good contrast to it, but taking a closer look, perhaps there are a few areas of the snow which got blown out a bit? As I look at this more, I realize that there are no other people in the photo. I'm not sure if that works for or against the photo... more people keep you looking longer, but also might be too cluttering and take the focus off the rider. I think if we had been able to see the hesitant expression on his face, it would have been more powerful, but sometimes you don't have the time to compose that shot, and I personally wouldn't have had the guts to stick a camera in this guys face if he wasn't up for it. Lastly, considering this was advanced editing, I might have burned that light mark on the back of his jacket.. my eye keeps getting pulled into that area.
Poughkeepsie? Nice to see a (sort of) local shot from the team. I like the processing on this one.. nice conversion to b/w with a nice range of tones. From looking at the scores, it looks like folks found this to just be probably an average scene with nothing jumping out at them to hold their interest, but it was a good photo technically... so they vote a 5 and move on. The one comment you did get clearly took the time to look at the details... those are some unique mirrors, I'm glad he pointed those out! :)
