Really loved this street in Barbertucky. They have some really nice buildings and its an older style city. The lighting was pretty good, so I decided to take some shots. My wife and I tried walking around to see if I could get some other people in the shot, but it was about -10 degrees outside so not many people moving around. And my wife was getting irritated.

So I begged her to stand as still as she could while I shot, I took some of just her but thought it would be a better shot with two people in it and under the sign of Romeo & Juliet. Just wish you could have seen the whole sign. But most will see the connection I hope. B&W is a very difficult shot for me, so any advice on how to make this shot better would be much appreciated.

In answer to skylercall's question, the play house only runs plays about once every 2 months, so they had not changed the sign yet, (hence the reason of saving my original in case anyone questioned that).

In my opinion your photo meets the challenge very well. I like that you converted it to Black and White. I should mention that I would not have seen that the sign said Romeo and Juliet had you not pointed it out in your comment. Although, I am happy with the composition of your shot. Why is it still posted on February 16th if the show ended on the 4th?

I can't find any part of the photograph that is really crisp in focus. I am sure this was hard to do given the circumstances (self portrait and low light). You probably could have saved your file at a higher quality. Your file size as submitted is 119.16 KB but you are allowed up to 150 KB.

I don't know where you used dodge and burn but there seems to be an unusual glow coming from the snow bank just behind the first light post.

Congratulations on your score! Keep at it!

good choice of your position for this picture. Very strong lines by the walk way and the lights

Nice composition and the street lamps leave a nice line. The crop is pleasing

Interesting portrait - love the way the lovers are shown in their environment and are just a small part of it and yet still a focal point. The leading line of lights and the curve of the cinema hall both add compositional strength too.
