After looking through a cuppla hundred sayings and idioms and stuff, the "can of worms" one hit me immediately with this picture in my head. I bought a can of corned beef, gave it to our dog because I hate corned beef. I got a bunch of worms from the fishing shop because I didn't want to get my hands dirty digging them out of the garden.

At no time was any worm harmed in the set up of this photo. Each worm was treated with equal respect. I have a signed model release from all the worms involved. They are all now living happily somewhere in our garden :-)

If you look really closely in the bottom left hand corner of the can you can see the white tissue paper I used to fill up the can. The worms are only filling the top eighth of the can.

Hi Gary!
Another excellent shot. What are you using as your background and lighting in this shot? It's very well done, with appealing and even lighting.

Thanks!

Excellent and well lit. Perhaps there was no physical harm done, but what about the psychological trauma imposed on our "lowly" friends?

Most of the photos I take for these challenges is not really my kind of photography. The only reason I take these stock kind of photos is that they score well and are prefered in comparison to the kinds of photos I really like to take.
11/23/2003 11:25:46 PM
Once again congrats kiwi good job, nice can of worms.Keep it up and you will be in the DPC hall of fame! Way to go

Worm is not my favorite creature but this is my favorite photo in the challenge. Simple and nicely done. This ribbon-collecting thing is getting habitual, isn't it. Congratulations! Very well done and well deserved ribbon!

Nice one. The only thing I think needs improving is the focus on the worms. -8-
11/23/2003 01:28:45 PM
Very nice choices - the plain silver can contrasts great with the solor and texture of the worms. Well done white background. Nice composition with the worm reaching to the corner and the other framing the bottom edge of the can. 9

I think there's a little too much white space in the photo, but the clarity and lighting are great.

This should really be disgusting and it turns out to be a very good photograph, and very clever on top of it. I think it's the winner. (Now where did you get the worms??) And... what did you do with them later?

Don't even want to think about setting this up :-) Good solid clean photography, technically perfect. Not quite as haunting as a couple of images here, but I think it puts you in with a very good chance.

Two questions: Did these worms get a bath before they were canned? Is this a Spam can? Please tell me it isn't . I love Spam ( at least I did). Nice shot. Great interpretation.

That is so gross! :) It reminds me of something I met see on the TV show "Fear Factor". It must have been tricky photographing those slimey things without them getting your perfectly clean white background all nasty. Anyway... great shot!

Ewwww! Yuck! Is that a spam tin? Makes it even more funny! Hrm, what to say about this. I like it despite it being rather gross. The white is white, it's very clean and very sharp. No distracting shadows, lighting is excellent (except maybe the very tip of the tin but bah, that's nothing). Very well thought of and executed.
