Mary, this is a very nice street shot. I like the big city feel to it. I think it might have been a little better if you would have zoomed out a little and incorporated more of the surroundings.
BTW, Nick was right! |

What I like - very nice slice of life shot - makes me think Nick's is probably a good place to get something to eat. Lots to see and take in in the picture (which I like, DPC may think otherwise). What I'd do differently if at all possible - seems a bit too center-oriented, and though there is a balance on the "sides", I find myself wanting to see more of Nick's van to the left of the picture. I like the contrast of the high rise in the background to what looks like an older more sedate and stately kind of architecture in the foreground - and you did a very good job with the exposure to get such even balance in the lighting! |

This one would have worked better in landscape orientation. With his feet nearly touching the bottom of the frame and chopping off the price list, this one feels too tense. I also tend to steer clear of art geared toward political statements. Even still, you had a great start here. With a simple flip of the camera, I think that this one would have been a great deal stronger. |

i like this, the title really made me look around the shot and that was great, i have to say i am looking at this in work at about 8:00am, i am now hungry and want a Hot choc and Muffin.

Not a good idea to draw attention to a tiny portion of the photo at the edge of the frame. I got lost trying to determine the message and point of the picture. The political statement you're making in the photo title has nothing to do with the contest, or at the very least doesn't connect the contest subject with your statement. Maybe showing the bumper sticker with a homeless person in the distance and titling it "would they have made a difference" or similar would tie the political statement and contest subject together. |

What a great shot. It has a very photojournalistic quality to it. |

LOL - I suspect a lot of the Americans on this site are going to vote according to their politics on this one. And anyone who has read the forums knows there is quite a contingent of very vocal conservatives here. I've gotta agree with you, though, Nick was right - and I hope that guy's son and/or daughter isn't in Iraq right now. |

Ok now, no points deducted for agreeing with Nick ! Honest critique, however: I would like this better if there were more interaction between the people in the photo. True enough that it's a slice of life shot however... your photo does indeed communicate that! (5) |
