I enjoy the distortions on the pencil and the clarity and thoughtfulness of the whole shot--beautiful--andrewm |

WOW - excellent photo and idea. at first I rated this a 9 now a 10 - took me a couple of looks to realize what this is. (Running out of steam for commenting - so being brief) Excellent overall execution. Not one thing I would change. Lots of time and effort as well as skill for this image - I love the color - great lighting - just really great work Ruthann |

Lovely lighting through the ice and good colour in the pencil. Not sure the lower foreground does anything for the photo. 7, Kavey |

Literally cool! The focus is very clean, but I wonder why you cropped out both tips of the pencil. |

This is an interesting image. I like the refraction on the pencil and the blurred part of the pencil beyond the ice. The effect of the water belowthe ice is lovely. The top shape parallel to the pencil attached to the ice is an interesting shape. I don't quite know what it is (probably more ice) but it's an interesting element (Besides, I don't have to know what's what all the time in order to appreciate it :) Good composition, good lighting, clean and strong image. 8 Journey |

A pencil cicle. I like how the ice makes the pencil look wavy. A nice touch adding the melted-ness. Gives it more volume rather than just a pencil in ice. It's a bit dark for my taste, but I think it was important to the overall photo to have a dark background. There is a tiny reflection in the middle of the photo, but you did a great job of keeping reflection and glare off the ice. Nice job and good luck with the challenge. |

What is that, Ice? The photo itself seems a little bland, but my eyes are drawn to that "ice" effect. What IS that? 6 -lennier |

This is good work :) I really like the ice concept. The only possible improvement could suggest would be to have a little more light on the end of the pencil at the far left of the frame behind the ice... good work! - jmsetzler |

I can't even tell if the end of that is the eraser end or the sharpened end or even if it's the unsharpened stub! Great idea! Did you freeze that in some kind of bottle? The black in the background serves as a nice contrast with the ice and the pencil. Good choice! |
