the coloring and contrast makes the pear look rotten and unappealing.

Oooh I do like this. I like the low-key nature a lot plus the toning really focuses attention on the textures of the pear and cloth. Nice.

I think this image could have been made a little more powerful in Black and white with a stronger lighting.
