My Mother-in-law has a catering business and a bakery so my Father-in-law has a passion for making these incredible decorations out of fruits and vegetables for her business. As you can see he does amazing work. I knew when I saw this challenge that he would be perfect for helping me set this shot up. So he sacrificed his time and helped make them. I made the mice and my wife did the birds.

The well is made out of a watermelon, and the bucket is made out of a cucumber and filled with delicious fruits. The swans are made out of apples. The birds in front are made out of kiwii, with grapes as heads, and sitting on half a lime. The mice are made out of radish's, as are the mushrooms in the back. And finally the cheese is cheese. The easiest one to do. Hope everyone likes this shot. Lighting is a little off, as I was having trouble with where I was shooting.

Whoa, this is an elaborate and gorgeous fruit basket! Congrats on a good showing and a good entry. I think the lighting is great - you kept nearly all the glare off the fruits & veggies in the image. Dpc hates fancy borders :-) Can't do anything about it other than to stop trying fancy borders on dpc entries or live with the reaction, haha. Anyway, this is an excellent job - you're good, Sean!

Haha, well gotta agree with the border, sorry but it´s absolutely dreadful :)

You asked about the lighting and I actually think it´s pretty good. Maybe if you want more natural lighting is to use a big north window during the day and a tripod, but this is not bad lighting at all. I gotta say I don´t care for the backround though, either would have wanted it pitch black orsomething a bit more natural, like the fruit basket on the top of a desk and the backround out of focus.

Wow, that is amazing and delicious looking at the same time! There should be a ribbon for most talented display of fruit in this challenge! Very nice work, both in photography and the presentation of the fruit.

Wow - what a lot of work !!

I think for me it might be a case that less would have been more. Almost anyone of your creations nicely lit could have done well, but that might just be me.

you abviously went through a lot of trouble for this, so well done with all of the creativity...my only beef is the lighting and the background rubbles in the fabric...not a fan of the border either...it is clever though 7
