I get that he looks sad, but it doesn't seem to have any interaction with the rest of the shot. If I was sitting there looking at that pretty landscape with the horses, I don't think I'd look so sad.

Very nice colors though the background takes away all the attention and no wonder your rock is so sad about it! Nice composition

the photograph is beautifully processed - HDR? However, the title does not indicate personification, but I see the face on the rock.

The colors in this are lovely, and the expression on the rock's face is interesting. I don't see a connection between the loveliness of the scene and that expression. Maybe he's sad because the foals are not playing with him? It's just not obvious to me why the disparate elements are in the composition. But it is pretty.
