Just thought it would be fun to try selective color. Never done it before.
decided to try and make a black and white, but add some of the color back into it. That is how I discovered the history brush today. What a neat toy. editd to add- Yes, it is a kissable candy. The reason I took it was because I have been trying to improve my photography, mostly of people. My kids are all tired of seeing me go for the camera. SO, I have taken to bribing them. They get one kissable for every snap of the shutter. It works, I have somewhat more willing models now. So he was holding it in his hand waiting for the shutter to click so he could get his bribe. I guess adding the story might make the photo more meaningful.

Thanks for the comment. I know as a whole the candy takes away. But I added the story just now to give it meaning. It was a capture that meant something about my photographic history with my kids, if that makes any sense. And his favorite color is blue, so he always eats the blue ones first :)

The desat is done very well but here's my opinion of the image as a whole.

The boys face is nice and sharp however the blue thingy is a distraction more than an asset to the image.

I, personally, am not a huge fan of selective desat photos but it worked for you. I think a tad more DOF would have made this photo better but your SD worked fine. I think if you cropped it in on the left just to almost his head, it would balance out nicer. I find it just a tad left heavy, but that could just be me.

At any rate, super job on your first go at it for sure!
