Hi Anne;
Wonderful picture of a truly sacred natural place. One can hear the silence and feel the refreshing, calm morning.
A slight issue is of course the foreground bush: cropping it away wouldn't work here. The symmetry would get broken and most important the lake would get too narrow. But it needs to be enough distance between the lower border and the rock to make the rock "fly" in the sky.
So you did choose it just right.
Congrats afterwards for your 4th place,
Jörg

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wonderful shot, I figured this one would end up high, it's beautiful!!!
Ursula
Edit: This wouldn't be your house? If it is, I WANT IT :)))

Thank you to every single one of you...Firstrich1 made me laugh with that comment. I couldn't even get the size right in my first entry. This is pretty overwhelming. Anne |

Wonderful photo. Great reflection. It almost looks as if the house is about to be swallowed up by the rock. |

Great photo. Love the feeling of calm, and the reflection. I can see why this serene place would be sacred to you. |

A perfect ten! This is abolutley gorgeoues. Maybe I love it because this is exactly the kind of place I would call sacred. These colors are the colors I grew up with. The water is so still and the reflection so perfect. A recent thread asked "when is it effective to break the rule of thirds?" This is a perfect example of when. When the symetry of an image is so powerful that it belongs dead center. But then you have the little house and the little reflected green tree in the thirds positions, balancing each other and creating a cross diagonal to counter the diagonal crack in the rock. Perfect emotion, perfect moment, perfect composition, perfect technical execution. perfect (did I say that already?) |

This is a wonderful shot, the calm, serene feeling, a true place to be alone except for that tiny little house in the back! :) The DOF on this shot is wonderful, the mist rolling in and the reflection of the rock in the water is like a mirror. The bush in the lower right corner is a bit of a distraction to me and for some reason I think the colors could pop just a tad more. An 8 |

A wonderful shot that does convey the feeling of a peaceful, sacred place. Love the colors, and really like the way the composition is set up with the rock and the water having such clarity, and the trees in the background having a very soft feel. Works beautifully together. Just me, but I would prefer to see the small bush in the foreground cropped out; I find it distracting, and feel that it takes away from an otherwise perfect shot. |

Mmm, that is gorgeous. I love that rock because it brings to mind the word "asunder" and that just sounds so...powerful. This speaks of a phenominal power and I love that. |

I've looked at this so many times and I've just noticed the wee hut in the background. A brilliant shot, spot editing would have been nice on this to get the little leaf out of the water. 9 |

Wonderfully subtle colors here! Love the reflcetion of teh big rocks in the middle too. The house in the background is almost like an after thought and the natural lines kind of take your eye there, but not untill there's been a little exploration of the scene! Nice capture!

Huge potential but the exposure needs more attention. The bush in the lower right dosn't seem to be included deliberately. I'd suggest cropping evenly just above the tree line and reflection, but the sky will still be overexposed. |

Beautiful capture. Wonderful light and colors, and hazy atmosphere. I would have minimized the amount of the sky here, since it's so white. |

Perfect title. Very clear water, contrast to soft misty air. I'd crop out the plant at the bottom. 9 |

Sky is overexposed, plant in foreground would be better off removed. The main subject is nice and sharp and the relection works well. 6 |
