This was taken in a cypress swamp at the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in the Everglades. Although I've seen ibises in trees before, this is not a typical place to find one.

Very nicely framed; quite a unique shot.

This is great. I think the framing of the moss gives a surreal feeling to this.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the moss in the trees (maybe our group can take a field trip down there one of these months).

I like the way the moss curves right around the beak in this shot.

Almost seems to be framed by the tree and moss. Really beautiful shot!!!

My what a bird.

I watched yesterday as hundreds of these came into the rookerie at Lake Martin, Louisiana.
They are pretty, in a tree or in the air.

Beautiful shot here. I love it.

Very interesting framing with the Spanish moss (I find Spanish moss very difficult to photo well, by the way. I think you've done a good job here). I'm trying to decide if I would try a tighter crop on this - possibly - but I can see the rationale in showing the details in the Ibix's surrounding as well. One thing I might consider would be some work around his eye - a little dodging in center, then burning around the iris to make it stand out. Overall great 'environmental portrait'.

This is absolutely beautiful! National Geographic material for sure! I'm sure you'll do well in your competition.

The natural framing of this is gorgeous. When I first saw the thumb I thought you'd added something in post - to discover it's that lovely moss was a delightful surprise! I love the way the bill's curve matches the curve in the tree, too.
