Hi from the CC
There are some obvious flaws that you are aware of by now i.e. fence causing cross hatching effect and a lack of sharpness on the hawk. as i'm looking at your picture it seems like the shot was underexposed and then adjusted in photoshop. my experience with dslrs is that this tends to lead to softer photos with less sharpness. another thing to consider is raising the iso and aperture in order to maintain the same shutter speed but increase the sharpness. also maybe the case was you didn't have a tripod and were forced to hand hold the shot. any or all of these factors could lead to a softer looking shot. it would be nice to see what you could do with a low iso in bright light with a tripod. i think your shot would be much sharper with greater color contrast and vibrance. take care

Nice shot of the hawk. You almost got the fence out of the picture, good try with that. |

Nice shot, really like the photo. I think its a Broad Wing, but it could be a Redtail. I was going to ask if it was wild or captive, but I think I see telltale signs of fencing in the foreground. Its still really nice. I've been trying to get some pics of Redtails this fall, but they are really elusive. Check my profile to see a couple of attempts. |

Good pose and DOF. Overall, very good, but the hawk is a little soft. |

I was going to say it was soft, but I can see he's taken thru a fence. You did better than I could to blur it. |

damn that chain link... good focus and detail, boring pic it looks like a carved bird rather then an exciting subject of hawks. |

It's a pity that one can see traces of the fence. It detracts from an otherwise good photo. |

it looks like there was a wire fence between you an the hawk. Very nice how the hawk is in sharp focus and the background is blurred... I just wish there wasn't anything between you and the bird 7 (I'd vote a 9 if the fence wasn't so obvious).
