This is a portrait of artist Sarah Swett from Moscow, Idaho. She hand weaves tapestries.

It is a spin on one of her tapestries, which is of the same scene.

I used a flashlight to lighten her. I also added a blur to the entire image, then brought back details into Sarah, the towel, the flowers, the cup and the window frame.

Wow this is an awesome shot... so well executed! I like that it is underexposed (well I wouldn't call it underexposed actually).. .since this is what shows the real character of the lady in the picture.

This is lovely, Lisa, and a wonderful tribute to the artist's work!

Yep -- Understandable... just personal preference/criticism that's all. Do what suits you best!

Thanks for the comments, but honestly, I underexposed the image on purpose, then added flashlight on the lady to make her stand out. I have many versions of everything brighter, but liked this one better.

I would have liked to be able to see more of this picture but it is just to dark.

Interesting use of soft focus and gaussian blur, I see what you were trying to do in matching the tapestry. I think that the right side of the image is a little bit too underexposed for my tastes and it would be a little easier on the eye if there were more bright areas on the right to match the towel which seems a bit out of place.
