 Common egret preening. I was sitting in my truck to take this. They don't seem as nervous about a vehicle as they would be if you step out. I usually use a monopod, and put the foot thru the open window for this kind of shooting. This was at about 40 ft range.
Used an old Nikkor 300 4.5 MF ED lens with fungus in it for this. Cropped to about 1/2 the original image. No other adjustments.

I love Great White Egrets.
I live near the rookerie in Louisiana and go often to get these kind of shots.
