Critic Club review:

I think your photo meets the challenge well. It sturs emotion and appears to be sacred to you and others.

The dof is right on, every thing is nice and sharp. There is a slight loss of contrast in the medalion, but that is minimal.

The use of the screen/star filter in this shot is definately a good modifier. Normally I do not like them, but it sends light in different angles and adds colors where there may not have had them.

The modifiers, i.e. feather, dagger, etc. modify the small statue well. The dark back ground and reds appear to also modify this shot.

The only real downfalls of the shot to me, is that the star flames from the candles cause confusion to my eye as to where it is being directed, So I have to really study the photo to determine what you would have as the main subject, the medalion , statue, or what. I assume the main medalion, but it could be the statue not knowing the subject.

I hope this helps.

Merry Meet JoannaDiva.

congratulations on submitting this image. While we are still living at the tail end of misunderstood Sun God worship (son of god)It is refreshing to see someone acknowledge appreciation of elemental nature.

I find worshipping humans offensive, but that isn't what the challenge is all about; it's about photography! I hope your Pentacle was off centre only because that was your true north!

Blessed Be.

The star effect is amazing, I love it when candles do that! The set up on this shot is well thought out and you can tell you took some time to work this out. Having the knife come in on one side and the feather out on the other is another touch of a well thought shot and very well done. The disc in the center looks a bit off, like it's tilting or not quite set right and while I normally like a good star effect, there are just a few too many here for me. Started at a 67, am raising to an 8

Not really sure what all this means. I'm sure it has a sacred value to you. The overall shot is nice. Your white balance is good. I think that the straight on camera angle doesn't make for a very imaginitive shot.

I don't get it. Blessed be what or who? The candle light works real good.

oh cute, a shrine. i see a blade.. a feather, a pentagram... candles.. a little idol with boobies? and another pentagram around the idol's neck on a little bead necklace. i guess i don't know what the blade is about.. but i assume you're wiccan? i hate prismatic light rays.. they piss me off. you obviously spent some time on this.. i will look forward to reading the photograph's info.

Interesting effect. I like using my star filter for fun and interesting shots. Here, though, I think it takes away by washing out a lot of the other details. You have a gorgeous dagger (athame) that is mostly hidden, out of frame and by the light.

Yet another photo that stirs emotion. It offends me, but, it is good compositionally. I suppose the challange is sacred places and to each his own.
Reluctantly (on emotions) 8

Those are some sparkly candles - magical! I like the red background. I'd worry the feather would catch on fire, makes me a bit nervous. I wish I could see more detal on the knife and the knife and featehr were all in the frame.

A wonderful alter! The crop is a bit tight for my liking, but the exposure is great.

Love the light of the candles, and very non-traditional (I like that too). Hopefully, voters understand this image and don't think it's satanic... Nice work, good luck.

Nice to see a pagan entry amongst all the churches. Very nice composition and use of the candle light.
