First let me start out with a very pessimistic outlook - I'd bet my next shoot fee that this image will end up in the DNMC gutter. Most will interpret this entry as not meeting the challenge because the girl in the photo does not fill the frame - however, it is my personal opinion that the challenge title in itself is stupidity and very open for interpretation.
Your subject for your photos is one of your choosing - i.e., you can choose to fill the frame with a detailed shot of a person, or object, or scene - but what if you choose, like I have, to illustrate the balance between multiple objects? Who is to say what the specific subject is? The photographer determines the subject and creates the image. I wanted to illustrate the balance of the dark woods with the bright colors of the girls pants and jumprope - so my subject is about the overall scene, not a specific detail. The photo itself would not succeed if any part of it were removed in favor of another part. That is how I determined that the ENTIRE image became the subject and not just a single detail.
Furthermore - I did fill the frame when I shot this - 38 times in fact. The image here is a manually masked and stitched straight panorama composed from about 38 separate images. This was done without a pano head and it was a very difficult image to do. As each image in the set was added to the final composition, I had to blend out parallax errors and correct perspectives. It is indeed harder to pull off than it is to explain it here.
I hope that at least a few of our voters here at DPC will see my point of view... if not - well, at least I like it.

Hey dude ... you turn into Nostradamus now and got a few DNMC's as predicted. I didn't vote on this challenge but you would of gotten a 5 or a 6 from me. Hard to see the ammount of work and effort you put into it without the explanation. Of cause I know you, I never knew this was your shot but as I remember you always did put a lot of effort into the things you love. shame really that it is hard for the viewer to interpret without the write up.
It does fill the frame so the DNMC crew get it wrong again. I feel any photograph 'fills the frame' so the harder thing to do would be to create an image that in fact, does NOT fill the frame.

| Hmmm...I would say that this doesn't quite fit the challenge for me. The frame is filled but not by the subject. (Which appears to be the person in this case). The light in upper left is somewhat distracting as well. |
