Many people felt that the man in the background had left the pregnant woman. My intention was to show a timeline. The out-of-focus portion of the photo is intended to show the past (a new couple) while the in focus portion shows the present time (a pregnant woman).

The subjects on the left are meant to show what was their engagement or their newlywed stage. The subject on the right is the present time. I did not mean for it to seem as if the husband had left her.

I like the details in this photo, but emotionally I thought it very sad. It looks like a pregnant women whose husband left her for another woman. I don't know if that was what you were going for, but that was what I got out of it.
