Vacuum cleaner hose sucking in gritz. Desktop setup using on-board flash (with diffuser) and the SB800 as a strobe with a reflective umbrella (not positioned very effectively). Circular polarizer used. Digital processing: sharpening, noise reduction, WB in Capture NX. In PS-CS2 cropped, levels, highlights reduced, saturation increased.

This is a good concept but not a real nice photo. Maybe some color would be interesting?

I have scored this higher having gone back to it. I didn't get it at first, even with the title until I came back to it. I think it would look a little better if the stones(?) at the very bottom were more in focus showing the movement of the rest.

very different, and very creative.

Faster shutter speed

I didn't get this at first, even with the title (I'm thick, though, so don't worry about that); but the loss of focus on all of the stones (?) did bother me, though, and overall the image just didn't reach me. Still bumped you up a bit after I realized what it was!

Definitely out-of-the-box thinking here.

Nice idea - but it looks as though the rice (?) is coming out, not entering the vacuum. Much of the photo is not sharp enough either. This would have looked better if the substance had been in sharp focus.

Creative twist on the theme.

nothing is in focus....suggest the fixed pile should be sharp and the moving stuff blurred, would be a better effect.

Looks like fishtank gravel. :) Fun concept. Color-wise it's a bit bland. Nothing personal, just an observation. Good luck.

Great idea - but I find the photo unappealing visually.

Looks like the bits are pouring out not going in?
