As others have said, the subject isn't very well isolated which is a problem since the background isn't contributing. Some combination of being closer to the subject, using a lower f-stop and cropping more would help with that.
Also I'm sorry but I think that this image doesn't really meet the challenge. Of course death is an exit but a gravestone is pretty far removed from that. The wrong side of the divide between originality and shoehorning, in my opinion.

I like the reflected light in the marbel. The power lines and the cars in the background are to distracting. Would have liked it more if we could see the headstone at an oblique angle. |

Throwing the background out of focus would hav been better to avoid the distraction of the cars |

Not to pick this image apart but a few things could have helped a lot. There is a lot going on in the background, I would have cropped in much tighter or used a bigger aperture to the the back out of focus. It looks like a polarizer would have helped here to eliminate the reflections on the tombstone as well. |

I would have cropped in tighter - or waited for the cars to move, as they provide an unnecessary distraction. |
