This is part of my self-portrait challenge, plus I forgot my tripod somewhere last week, so this was REALLY a challenge for me!
I the box my lights came in on my bed and put a pillow on top. I put my camera on the pillow and used pillowcases to arrange the camera. I had two lights behind to get the strong outline effect.
In camera: I set the saturation to 0, contrast to +2 (that's as far as it goes up) and upped the sharpening.
Then I just kept going back and forth to get the composition, camera, and lights in the right spot...wayyyyyy too many times...
The color of my lights mixed with the peach of my wall gave the image a kind of sepia tone, which I like. I like it better than totally desaturating it to black and white.
Anyway, enjoy!
POST CHALLENGE:
So, maybe this wasn't the best for this challenge. I saw it as minimalism, because the subject is the white line, while the rest is black and has little detail. Actually, on my screen there's almost no detail in the person or background. Ofcourse I did see it on a different screen and there was more detail.
Idono, I guess it's up to what people think the subject is. |

The backlighting is very spot on! |

I love this type of shot! My monitor does show some detail in the silhouette. Love the back light outline, you did a great job! I reckon it would have done much better in say a portrait challenge! :) |

well done but it seems to be to much showing for this presentation... |

I like the concept, although the backlighting seems to "edge harsh". I'd love to see this done again with softer -- but still subtle -- light flowing along the contours of the woman's face/neck/shoulder. |

An effective entry for minimalism. I love how the little light gave the right amount your photo needs to compose your subject. I hope this will do well. |

Lovely portrait, but not very minimalist in my view. |

Create an image where your subject is the strong point of the image, but only occupying a very small portion of the image space. |
