I have passed these trees several times thinking \"cool reflection...I need to get that picture.\" Today, I needed a shot for my PAW, and because of the recent snow, I thought the trees looked even better. This might actually be a cool location for a \"four seasons\" type series of the same subject.

WOW! Three years and 47 challenges later I finally get a ribbon...something I surely didn't expect to gain in a challenge that had such a great crop of photos.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. I am still really very surprised and thrilled!

This is a pond area that is located next to the Great Miami River, which flows through my hometown. I actually always intended a shot with three trees, and I'll post that later, but I ended up liking the two much better. Special thanks to jmsetzler who shared his idea for a PaW (photo a week), which snapped me out of some photographic dulldrums. My PaW theme is my hometown and this shot would probably remain untaken without that extra bit of motivation.

edited to add: This shot also finally motivated me to get my sensor cleaned! I took both of my cameras with me when I did this shoot, and ended up using one from my Sony because of the sensor dust on my Canon.

this is an obvious choice...so well done...I love the B&W of it, I wonder what it would look like now in the summer will all the vibrant green around it...such a wonderful composition

It's kinda amazing that the reflection in the pond is even more cool than the trees standing by themselves. I would love to see this at print size.

I love the surreal feeling this has. The lines are perfect and the picture just draws you in. This has been on my favorites and I should have commented sooner!

Congrats! Yeah, I always wondered how important the "camera" is in winning a challenge anyway. I have a F717 myself, and all the talk about high-end cameras makes me ask - why? The "photographer" and "his/her" unique viewpoint is probably the most important thing in a picture.

mm this is a nice, serene shot. A scene that wouldn't get the attention of the average eye either, I think.

Very tranquil. Has a really nice balance, even for something with an unusually even number of subjects. 3's usually balance better, but this 2/4 pattern works really well.

This would make a fantastic poster - Really well done and I am glad it ribboned - I was unable to vote this time round but this one caught my eye while quickly scanning the images whilst waiting for a delayed plane. Really like it a lot and would have voted 10. Nice one.
