Great shot... has a very Kris Kristofferson look about it at first glance... of course when he was MUCH younger. |

Yes, it's a self-portrait. Thanks for all the comments. It's taken indoors with daylight from the window blowing out one side of the face. I used the self-timer thingy, which unfortunately does its focussing when the button is pressed instead of waiting for the shutter cue. This meant that I had to focus manually and strike the same pose three times at different distances. At f/1.8 the depth of field is shallow, as you see.
I really just made this as a reaction to all the comments saying oof and 'da guy moved' (dis guy's falling) etc. So there's precious little post process. Personally I think you do just as well to take a shot like this in the booth at the station. I do appreciate your commentaries though and I like to think that maybe a couple of subtle nuances that the photo-booth doesn't deliver are available here.
Sultry, huh? Hmm... |

This is very good, too - as Catherine says, probably better technically. But I do prefer the one with the cat. |

Great portrait. Nicely done. I like how the sharpening fades off quickly from a central oval. |

Raish, is this a self-portrait? This is definitely the better photo technically of the two, but I have to say I miss the cat on the shoulder :-) That being said, I think the lighting is quite nice here, especially on the face (brings out features without any harsh shadows or blown whites). I might consider a couple minor things: use a clone brush to get rid of that little double-line around shoulders, which looks like the hallmark of lots of sharpening; and maybe tone down the white just a bit on the right side of face, as it is much brighter than on the left. |
