Solve the technical problems and re-shoot, and you could have a winner in the Surrealism challenge; Your father's expression and his mock moustache are highly evocative of Salvadore Dali's self-portraits.... Good luck |

I won't even address the issue of meeting the challenge, other than to say, if you want to stretch the definition of a challenge, make sure that no one can find anything technically wrong with your picture.
That said, I think you succeeded in having a humorous picture. Your did is a great sport, and probably a lot of fun to be around. The composition fills a little off to me. Perhaps if the white thing on the right was cropped out, or if you could have moved to your right just a bit to eliminate it all together, it would have been better.
Since you are so close, I think a smaller aperture number and slightly faster shutter speed would have been okay. The background is really bright, but the shadows on his face are a bit too dark to get the full impact of the picture.
Best wishes to you in future challenges.

funny shot but almost the exact opposite of what the challenge called for, in no way does this pass for a still life, sorry. |

not a still life, badly lit, with blow-out highlights and dark shadows, poor composition by including the window stile, unattractive, not even as funny as your title suggests. Sorry, can't find anything positive. |

I don't like the white surface on the right side ...could have been cropped out.
This isn't what I would call still life, but I give you techical merit because the picture is not all that bad.

OMG, what is that?????? Not sure I even want to know, eek! :) Okay, how this fits the challenge I'm not quite sure but we'll stretch the rules, a lot! As for the shot, the lighting is uneven and really hurts this shot for me. Also the white line down the right is very distracting and the tape on under his nose holding whatever that is coming around must have hurt like heck when you pulled it off! OUCH! ;) A 4 |

Does not meet the challenge. A still life is a picture of an object or group of objects arranged to communicate ideas of color, form, tone, texture and composition. Still lifes are inanimate. |
