Challenge: Motion Panning II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-400D Rebel XTi
Lens: Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) for Canon
Location: Owen Sound, Ontario
Date: Jan 14, 2007
Aperture: 20
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/20
Date Uploaded: Jan 16, 2007

Let my dog loose up in Owen Sound. He just went nuts chasing who knows what. This is my first attempt at panning and even though it's not the standard still capture with a buzzy background, I think it captured his motion perfectly that day.

Good movement but would like to have seen the dog facing the camera. I like the soft, almost monochrome colours.

I feel like I'm in his mind, a mind of motion, a mind of wind. 8

photo just seems oof motion blur should not be applied to the subject

Running animals are difficult because most of their body moves all the time. Try to pick something that moves but has the potential to be still long enough for a clear focus, not perfect just strong enough to be identifyable.

Not quite there yet.... in my opinion, a successful motion panning photo has at least SOME of the subject in clear focus, whilst the background shows the tell-tale streaks.

the amount of blur on the dog probably won't go down too well with most of the voters, but I think it works well.
maybe too artsy for this challenge though.

You haven't really used the MP technique to bring your subject out of the background enough IMO.
