Enjoying a few free moments....(of course there was nothing relaxing about this as I was trying to come to grips with my two flash units...)
A bunch of pp..... which burned out the book cover that was suppose to supplement the set up (it is a collection of Edgar Allan Poe work)

Damn you man... Poe... two flash units... an 18-200VR... you've got it made. (And the shot is wicked as well... texture is awesome)

You did a great job softening this photo - the cedar, the book, your sweatshirt - all soft and fuzzy, while your face and the poster are sharp and focused. Very cozy feeling.

Nicely set up. Post work is very well done too. Can you modify your lights somehow, that is, make the beam softer so that the shadows aren't as sharp? I'm thinking about the way the shadows look behind those cool figurines on the shelf, and the shadow behind you. The processing helps a lot in this regard though.

I tried diffusing that light (SB800) for about an hour and couldn't get it better than this. I ended up thinking that I like the shadows (at least of the one dragon on the shelf). The other shadow (by the poster) I managed to almost get rid off by moving the flash (SB600) away more and having both a homemade stofen type diffuser and bouncing it of the ceiling.

I thought that maybe a light from the bottom behind the couch would help, and I put a cheap 500W work light there to test, but it just made things weird so I removed it.

Thanks... yeah, it's also a matter of taste, because the shadows above actually do look pretty neat. :)

Outstanding. The composition, lighting and whole thing is really pleasing to look at. I get the "scotch" theme too. ;~D
