This was taken in the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town, South Africa. That fish IS big - about 2 ft long. The kelp plants are probably about 1 storey high.
The 4 DNMC votes I got were kind of expected and I don't mind. I did go out on a limb on this one as fish were not specifically mentioned in the challenge. The competition was pretty stiff in this challenge so 86th is not too bad. |

some editing would have removed the mirkiness out of the water that gives this a real aquarium look...I like the composition though with the fish on the bottom third |

Coming across sights such as this, I can understand why divers find underwater photography so satisfying. This fish is so strange looking, yet there is something almost human looking about the face! It is a shame the top lighting is a little harsh. |

Frontosa cychlid. Surely in a very large aquarium rather than a subaqua shot in an Africa rift lake? Whatever, it's a good job for a hard subject. 8. |

What a face... The challenge description specifically does NOT include fish and insects, I think to avoid being swamped with aquarium and macro shots, but this is clearly shot in the wild, and I hope you get away with it. It's an eerie, eerie image with the almost-human face, and the title does it justice. Good luck!
ETA: not so clearly shot in the wild, more probably shot in a major salt-water aquarium like Monterey Bay or Boston: my point was more, "not a home aquarium"... |
