it looks like the camera was still. Was there panning?
01/23/2007 12:07:11 PM
Neat image, showing motion, with interesting composition (though I think I either would have included a bit more at the top, or a bit less - the half included words are a bit distracting to me (how's that for picky). Not sure how it fits with the challenge (the motion is in the wrong subject for me, and I went lower for that, sorry), but I still like it.

This is not motion "panning"
01/22/2007 10:42:24 PM
Good concept, but maybe not for this contest... where's the panning action?
01/21/2007 07:12:03 AM
A nice idea for a shot, but not for this challenge. The motion is not created through panning.
01/21/2007 07:00:12 AM
This not panning
01/21/2007 12:24:14 AM
I see motion, but not panning...
01/20/2007 11:51:09 PM
This is not panning, it's just slow shutter.
01/20/2007 03:16:37 PM
Nice photo, but not right for motion panning
01/20/2007 02:38:03 PM
DNMC. This is backwards. The background is sharp and moving subjects are out of focus. The moving subject should be the thing in focus, while the rest of the image is blurred.
01/19/2007 06:51:49 PM
i'm sure there is merit to this image, just not in this particular challenge.
01/18/2007 01:03:42 PM
I'm sure you've gotten enough dnmc comments, and a couple of "too small" comments, but none of that changes the fact that this is a cool photo. Nice capture.

This is motion blur..not panning motion.
01/18/2007 09:26:46 AM
no panning...

Subject is stationary as is environment. Other moving subjects are blurred. This is not motion panning, this is long exposure. Focus on a moving target and pan the camera with that subject, opening the shutter and continuing to move with the main focus. This causes the environment to blur giving a real sense of action.

Sorry but this is not a panning, just a poor shot
01/18/2007 03:10:50 AM
this is not motion panning; in motion panning the subject is sharp and the background is motion blurred through movement of camera in the direction of the subjects movement
01/18/2007 02:37:33 AM
not a motion pan
01/17/2007 11:41:11 AM
I bet she really is sitting still and you didn't have to pan the camera at all. 3
01/17/2007 11:39:41 AM
Panning?
01/17/2007 08:35:41 AM
This seems more like motion blur, not motion panning.
01/17/2007 05:12:19 AM
the picture would be better overall if it was using the full size of 640 pixels along one length.
01/17/2007 03:21:55 AM
DNMC
01/17/2007 01:48:59 AM
i don't see the panning here
01/17/2007 01:14:28 AM
not panned!
sorry have lots of people said this?
01/16/2007 08:22:52 PM
Can't see the panning in this instance.
01/16/2007 08:15:31 PM
Sorry...this is not panning.
01/16/2007 07:50:58 PM
I don't believe that this meets the challenge: "motion panning" means (to me) moving the camera to track a moving subject. This image appears to be a slow exposure from a stationary camera to illustrate the motion of the pedestrians and the non-motion of the sitting lady....
01/16/2007 07:19:56 PM
More motion blur than motion panning it seems to me.
