 Taken from the Diaz lookout point, Cape Point, South Africa. The Atlantic Ocean side. I had this beautiful picture book as a child, called "The Moon's Revenge" and the illustrator captured the sea in incredible watercolours...the effect of the foam caught in motion made such an impression on me: I grew up with the sea, but had never "seen" the lacey patterns the foam makes until looking at the book...tried to get that effect here...somewhat abstract I know...looked to me like the lace edge on a dress or something.

Just to say that the sea really is this colour down here at the Point - this jewel turquoise. Our beach sand is also this fine, soft biscuit colour.

awesome almost abstract...in fact it has great abstract qualities...colour and saturation is perfect and the overall composition and point of view is exceptional...I'd love to see an image like this on a huge 40x40inch canvas
