 Taken at Sammamish Commons. Unlucky for Western Washington folks, we only had two days for the comet, and nothing more than 20 minutes or so. Once it got dark enough you can briefly see it before it headed into the horizon.

Wish I had a longer lens than the 105 AIS. Comet is so insigficant with this range. Taken on a Tripod with a remote cord at 2 second shutter speed. Little post, a little contrast lift and a little unsharp mask. Colors are the natural sunset though the camera was set to vivid. Colors mainly do to the freak snow storm we had the day prior which cleared out the sky. Removed dust spots per Basic Editing.

I have another version which shows the comet better, but that version is past basic editing.

Not expecting much unless voters catch the title and see the comet, and them probably a few DNMC. Probably around a 4.9...

I think this was a bit of a stretch for the challenge, which probably held your score back some. I disagree with Melethia - I would crop out the top cloud. She's right that they provide a nice frame, but I like the composition better with less of them.

But mainly, thanks for posting this. I never got to see it, and this is a gorgeous capture of it. :)

I don't think I'd crop the clouds at the top - they bound the picture nicely, in my opinion. Silhouetting is lovely and a nice glimpse of the comet!

This is one fine capture. Not sure how well it fits the theme but this is one of the best shots that include the comet I've seen so far. It's not just the comet that makes it special it's everything else, like the sky color, silhouette and overall composition. And yes I've seen shots that have a closer up view of the comet but something is missing in those. The weather here didn't grant us a break so this is very nice to see :)

when the comet was visible from my town there was coulds coulds and coulds :(:(:(

May be a bit of a stretch for the challenge, but I absolutely love the silhouettes. In this sor of a basic editing challenge, I know you couldn't spot-edit the comet, but it doesn't "pop" out in this composition. I would post-process this to bring it out some more when the challenge ends.
