In my living room. Wanted to do a more traditional pose to start. I played with various house lights until I got the exposure I liked.

Did you plan your outfit around the couch?? That is great!

Nice portrait, and I agree about a closer crop eliminating some of the elments that don't enhance this, such as the painting and sides of the couch.

I like the colors and the comp. Perhaps crop under the painting and part of the bottom? Maybe bump up the lighting a bit? I like this!

Lighting and focus aren't bad. The composition is a little on the busy side. I'd probably crop it much closer, so that the viewer has fewer things to focus on. Still, it's a nice natural pose with a good exposure.

Nice job with the lighting. The shadow on the wall is soft and suddle.
I feel the whole image is slightly underexposed though. Also the focus could have been sharper on the eyes.
BTW, how do you like the lens? I am considering getting one like that (or maybe 85mm prime)

good stare, I wouldn't want to bluff you in a game of poker. Agree about the previous comments regarding the pants and frame.

Roger, great shot!! The pants and the couch are a bit too close. Also, the painting takes away from the composition. Maybe crop it just under the painting. Also, be careful of the shadows, they'll kill the best portrait.

All in all, I really like this. Can't wait to see more.

I like this SP! The only thing that bothers me is the color of the pants match the couch almost exactly. Otherwise, it is a great shot and the lighting is good!

I wouldn't call this traditional. I find it very extemporaneous and original.
