You stole my voice
You stole my heart
You succeeded in taking me apart
Now this is all that's left of me
Victim of botched love surgery
---

No chests were harmed in the making of this photograph. It's a line of red marker + a strip of transparent tape with staples in it. Since I am turning 16 very soon, I thought I would be a bit more brave in my photography. But it's not like you see anything naughty, am I right? ;]

So yes. Song my Nick Lachey. As some might guess I am not exactly a Nick Lachey fan, or a fan of any music on this list, but this seemed like a fun challenge, and I've had this conecpt in my head for a while. I really felt like doing something more dark and conceptual yet staying away from grunge. Okay okay, so in all honesty I chickened out of b/w portrait, haha. Oh well, wondering how this will do. Hope it's not too graphic for anyone :]

post challenge:
w00t, top ten. I'm surprised this type of photograph did as well as it did,so yay. Thank you everyone for the votes, comments and favorites.

i love th square framing and the editing / light you used gives the photo that emotional boost that you (i assume) were going for. Aswell the fact that you can see her eyes, for me, makes it easier to sort of see her as a "hollowed out entity" of sorts. great job. interesting portrait.

This is outstanding, if somewhat macabre. It will test the voters' tolerance for the metaphorical or symbolic. How many will see the heart torn out, the voice silenced? Good luck to you. I'm in a similar boat (the metaphorical boat) and am scoring well so far (knock on wood) so good luck to us :-)

Wow - Scary image but beautifully presented. Love the light and the selective focus. The colour balance is also so perfect for this - Has the feel and look of a lot of the new horror movies. I am giving this a 10 as I think it is brilliant, creative and very edgy - Good job!

Quite a powerful portrayal of the title. The muted tones and hidden details of the face seem to complement it well - making the subject appear more like a victim.
I don't know if the landscape orientation really does it justice though. Still, it has interest, and makes you look at it more than once.

annah? The treating of the mouth as a wound, and the heart incision put this into rich metaphorical territory. 8

A lot of effort's gone into this shot; makeup (at least I hope it's makeup :-) ) staging and blurring to highlight the key parts. I can see it as a record cover.

I didn't vote on this upon my initial viewing cause I had to think about it. It's painfully tranforming. You really have to take it in and then it sticks with you. The tones, the composition and the whole feel of it really works for the title.
