This is actually a self portrait I took of myself in Broadstairs, England. It was taken using fujichrome 100. I had the camera on a tripod and a self timer. This was taken quite a while ago - I remember having to try and time the waves to hit with the self timer which of course was almost impossible. This was the only frame that worked but I think it was worth the effort.

Big surf hitting shore is always an awe inspiring scene. You did a good job of getting this shot just right. It looks like you are about 3 milliseconds from being in a full run back toward the camera.

Now standing up looking into the full force of the wave would also have been a startling photo.
