CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

The first thing I noticed about this shot was the highly contrasting colors. It grabs the attention of the viewer and really helps the pattern of the markers seem infinite.
When I first looked at it, I thought the green on the right needed to be more rows of markers, but after studying it for a while, I think I like the open area. It gives a "beginning" to the infinity, and splits the picture into two sections.
The focus seems just a hair off (not immediately noticeable). Perhpas a larger aperture number and a slower shutter would help to really get those details showing good.
Nice work, and best to you in future challenges.

When I first read the additional info and saw "Brisbane" I thought, "don't you mean Colma?" Then I noted your actual location in the antipodes (I've waited a long tome to use that in a sentence!).
There is a US National military cemetery in Colma, California which is right next to Brisbane, California. In addition, a search of the Yellow Pages for "cemetery" in Colma will return 29 entries -- hence its informal moniker of "City Of The Dead." |

Thanks for all your comments. I took various shots from different POV's, and this one was the best for the 'Infinite' theme, in that it appears there are an almost infinite amount of graves.
In point of fact, the graves you can see here are about all of the graves in the 'war area'. I couldnt go lower, in that it would show the hedge at the edge, spoiling the effect. I also wanted to get the best 'pattern' out of the stones, and whilst they are all lined up in each row, they are not evenly spaced, so this was the best shot to show a 'pattern'.
I rather liked the blank space to the right - breaks up the shot, so that it's not just a mess of stones.

Personally I thought the title was thought provoking. The war graves are clearly the result of mans ability to wholesale slaughter in war.
When I saw it, I gasped... loved the concept. Perhaps a lower POV to fill the frame with the message??? |

| Unless there was something distracting in the background, it might have been more appealing to shoot this at eye-level with the tombstones, for a more powerful effect. |

| I hope it isn't infinite. Great shot although I would prefer it with a slightly different crop. I'd like to be able to see a little more on top and a little less on the left. |
