 My three-year old daughter Lara loves having her picture taken, but lacks patiance to pose. This time I got her to keep still for a couple of minutes and even produce a couple of funny faces.

The trick in the picture is pretty obvious, but I still think it worked out well. I reflected the flash using a nearby wall and my daughter holds a black reflector to block light coming from the other side.

I like how the light plays across her face, including catching her eye on the dark side. Her expression is great, too. Yeah, the focus leaves a litle to be desired, but not much. This is a shot about emotion and reaction, not tack sharpness.

I think this pic got about the grade it deserved, so I am happy. With hindsight, I probably should have sharpened it less and may have used a slightly deeper DOF instead.

Expression and of course the hair makes this interesting. Lack of a neck though is a little disconcerting!
