Okay, I am too young to retire. But there are plenty of people who debated this and put it off for one more year, including the man in the picture, my father. So this one goes out to all you boomers...

_____

The idea more specifically was the person was on vacation looking at his "retirement" that he put off. The image might be better than the fitting into challenge. But it is a real procastination to say the least....

It must be a tough life to spend the winter months in the warmth. The blur is very effective at symbolicly sharing the dream of retirement. Very beautiful effect.

the photo seems to be out of focus, except for the man.

Nice picture and I like the DOF. But if you have put off retirement all of last year, I doubt very much you procrastinated at all.

I love the lighting & colors on this, but I would have used a higher f-stop so the trees & horizon were sharp too - but that's just personal preferance. 7

You shouldn't have blurred the background. It would've looked better imho.

The blur does a good job of isolating the subject but looks a little forced on the left side of the beach. Nice shot, though.

I really like the DOF you chose on this image. It pops the subject very well. 7.

If you can afford it, and are ready for it, procastinate no longer - this vision looks wonderful!

Don't put it off a moment longer. I did it 4 years ago, way before time, and have never looked back. Impecunious and happy is better than wealthy and never knowing your family. Nice mood and timless picture.7

Very interesting DOF here! Is this done with a graduated filter? The sharp clear beach with the abrupt switch to blurry trees, sea, and house is a bit odd...

As to the challenge, I am not clear on what you are procrastinating. This picture looks like you have achieved "The Good Life"...

Hmmm....the liberal use of blur on the house is unconvincing to me...and it feels "fake" when the beach that is obviously in nearly the same proximity is SOOOO much sharper. It has a nice effect on the water and the horizon, though.

Neat shot that, for once, puts the emphasis on the person, not the scenery. Good luck when you do finally retire!

How could you put off a retirement like this? Nice.

Nice shot. But what does it have to do with procrastination? The sand looks a little fake on the left side. Is this how it came out of the camera or you "massaged" it?

okay...I get it! The house is blurry because he hasn't achieved this goal yet! He's procrastinating! So, it's just out of reach! Yeah...great shot! Nice colors, nice composition! High score!

I like the pop of the salmon colored shirt with all of the blue tones. Great DOF. 8
