What to submit for the best of 2006 challenge? A windmill, this one, something from St. Pete or another motorcycle shot?
Well, methinks windmills are blah. Altough I was thinking about submitting my best windmill evah (the windmill landscape, check my portfolio). Best photo of St. Petersburg was already in a challenge and scored high. I already entered three motorcycles of which one won a ribbon. Portraiture is something I like to look at, something I'd like to do, but also something I am too shy at doing. Need more confidence, more ideas and my own studio lights. :)
So a portrait it is. During the 2006 Europe GTG/Workshop Serdar was assigned to me, Biteme and Majanka for the free shoot. We decided to use the double striplight lighting Nasti showed us. This is my light test photo.
Serdar is a real pleasure to work with and great with his poses and expressions. I hope to shoot more and better stuff off/with him during the 2007 GTG. Want to shoot cool stuff with a male model? This is the guy to book!
So, hit me with hard critique so that I can improve.
Compared to the one in my portfolio I changed the balance of light, because the value of the skintone was too close to the value of the background. Too get more empahsize on Serdar I therefore darkened the background. Something I suddenly remembered from a tutorial on color I saw with Kiwiness a couple of days ago.

I laughed so hard when I read  shelleyk's comment I nearly peed my pants. Stunning model aside, the lighting is fabulous in this photo, and you certainly did capture a sultry expression :-) |

| AH! The hairy foot guy! I recognize him! Honestly, since he shaves his chest he really should shave or hide his feet. Image itself is very well taken. DOF, color balance, focus and point of view are all excellent. Won't deduct points for hair. ;) |
